Our story

A table that began on the old bridge

Yıldızlar opened in 1980 on the old Galata Bridge. Our aim has been the same since day one: to serve our guests the freshest fish of the season and an unforgettable view of the sea, with a cool Bosphorus breeze for company.

The bridge was rebuilt, the city grew and tables changed. Today we carry on the same tradition beneath the New Galata Bridge, on the Eminönü side: the New Mosque (Yeni Cami) beside us, Karaköy and the Galata Tower across the water, and the sea forever flowing past.

For years, whenever locals and visitors alike think of “fish on the Galata Bridge,” we have been proud to be one of the first names that come to mind.

What defines us

Three things we’ve never compromised on

  1. Fish display on ice with sea bass, sea bream, red mullet and lobster

    Fresh fish of the day

    Sea bass, sea bream, turbot, shrimp, lobster… Our fish display is restocked every day with whatever is in season. You choose your fish, and we decide together how to cook it.

    Meze made by skilled hands

    Our cold meze and hot starters are made every day by our experienced cooks, using seasonal ingredients. Traditional recipes, thoughtfully presented at your table.

    Right on the water

    At the water’s edge, between the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn and the historic peninsula. Watch the ferries by day and the bridge lights by night.

The space
